Why Mariposa

A FRESH RELEASE OF PENTECOST...wind, wine and fire! That is what has just occurred in the lives of those who went to the site of the original out-pouring of the 1906 revival...Azusa Street and the Bonnie Brae House in Los Angeles.

On October 6th & 7th, a group of revivalists and intercessors gathered at Mariposa Revival Center, boarded a charter coach to begin the pilgrimage to Los Angeles, to re-dig the wells of revival! There were people from a variety of churches and cities with one intent in mind...to bring back the impartation that they would receive from the deposit in this historical place. There was a strong spirit of intense prayer and expectation, knowing that God was about to do something great!

The group made a stop at Hosanna Worship Center in Chowchilla (Pastors Dan and Becky Whitehead), and were greeted warmly by members of that fellowship (some would join the team set for L.A.). Pastor Whitehead led everyone into a glorious time of worship to Jesus and the ministry time that followed was awesome as Pastors Henry and Grace Falany, along with the other Pastors, laid hands on each person, anointing with oil and prophesying. The bus driver received a powerful impartation of prayer and prophesy as all gathered around him and blessed him. Hosanna Worship Center Church treated everyone to coffee latte’s before boarding the bus again, heading for Bakersfield for lunch.

The lunch stop was Hodel’s in Bakersfield, and after a magnificent lunch buffet style, along with rich fellowship among the group, Pastor Wedderburn led everyone into a time of prayer and communion to begin the fast that would continue through early Saturday morning.

As soon as the bus began to continue the journey South, a time of prayer intercession began to really take place among all the passengers. As the bus rolled through each town, hands were extended, blessing the land and proclaiming revival for the inhabitants there.

There were visions and declarations made as this took place. One of the visions given by Gay Lott, Mariposa, was "...I saw flames covering the top of the bus and sparks flying out of the windows as it was moving down the highway..."! Then, by Jean Mills "...I saw smoke of incense rising up to heaven from the prayers..." She also saw angels over the bus with swords drawn...and the flames shooting out over the land being prayed for, under God’s direction. Judy Durr had read in her devotion that morning, an excerpt from Dick Mills...Song of Solomon 2:11-12,"...the rain is over and gone, and the time of singing has come..."

Pastor Henry shared a message from the Word, taken from Rev. 3:7-8, "Behold, I have set before you an open door that no man can shut..." He encouraged everyone to walk and obey and God will open the door. He then shared the initial trip that he and Grace had taken to the Bonnie Brae House months before, that literally opened the door for this trip. It is interesting that the address of the Bonnie Brae House is 216 N. Bonnie Brae Street, and Acts 2:16 makes that declaration! "...THIS IS THAT..." Pastor Falany encouraged everyone to "...pray for rain in the time of rain..."!

As the bus rolled through Tulare, nearing the restaurant, Jean Mills saw a giant eagle flying over the land, seeking for worshippers. God is seeking those who will desire and seek Him to do His will.

As the bus approached Los Angeles, there arose a great cry in the bus and much prayer began to take place. We passed the magnificent Angeles Temple where the Lord used Aimme Semple McPherson, so many years ago, to reveal Himself in a great out-pouring. Doris Taylor smelled the fragrance of beauty (better than roses), as the bus drove by the building. We stepped out of the bus close to Azusa Street and walked onto the original site of the Azusa Street Barn where revival occurred in the early 1900's  It is a Japanese Cultural Center now known as the Naguchi Plaza.

Under the direction of Pastors Fred and Wilma Berry of Joshua Ministries, we again prayed for revival and made a commitment to the Lord that we would give our lives to it. We prayed at the Azusa Street wall for what God would do in the next two days and after. It was interesting to note that there was a very tall grapefruit tree that had been there for over 100 years, laden with beautiful grapefruit. (A picture of God’s fruit growing in the older saints in abundance!) We, again, boarded the bus and drove to our final destination...

The Bonnie Brae House
Words will never be able to completely share what took place in this historical, lovely place. Under the direction and care of Elders Frank and Gail Lennon, the house itself is beautifully done, lending it to as much of the original decor as possible. Even the same piano that was played in those early days of revival has been restored and sits in the small living room. It was a perfect setting for welcoming the blessed Holy Spirit to come and visit this group for a time such as this. We started our time together , with John and Wilma Berry leading in prayer and the Lennons sharing history with us of the 1906 out-pouring of the Spirit of God in Los Angeles. Doris Taylor was then asked to lead in a time of worship at the beautiful piano, and from the moment she started to play, the Lord poured out His anointing upon her and the room full of saints, moving each one in worship to the Lord. It began to build in intensity until everyone merged into one voice and it was the sound of heaven. Time stood still as the Song of the Lord began to be heard in the melody and caught by the singers. Different ones sang out in harmony and prophetic worship. There were times that two were moved on at once, singing in perfect harmony together, completely un-rehearsed but unctioned by the Spirit of the Living God! There was much worship of HIM Who is worthy of it all!

Pastor Berry had invited Charles Doolittle, who is the California State Coordinator for Cindy Jacob’s Ministry, Stregic Prayer Network, to be a part of this time of impartation. Charles also brought a team of leaders from Southern California to minister and impart, and so they were with the large group that evening, filling the house.  Our pastors were called forward and the team of host leaders prayed and prophesied over them. It was very powerful to hear the many confirming words our pastors. As they laid on the floor as a point of contact and they were prayed over, there was such an understanding and revelation that the well in 1906 was being re-dug and that a Divine connection was being made between then and now. After this time of anointing and declaration over the pastors, they, along with the leaders, prayed and prophesied over all the people in the room. There was such an awesome anointing that was poured out in such a small place, yet able to hold the powerful and tangible Glory of God!

Fred Berry asked Pastor Falany to speak.   Pastor Falany spoke concerning the Minerva spirit (stronghold) that is a part of the Seal of California. Also, Mt. Diablo which is another strategic stronghold over northern California.

The John G. Lake Mantle
At the midnight hour, Pastor Doolittle spoke a powerful message to the group.  While he was preaching he stopped suddenly and said he saw the name, or mantle, John G. Lake over Pastor Falany ... with a double portion.  He then prophesied that mantle over the entire congregation.  There was a wave of the Holy Spirit that swept through the hearts of everyone in the room.  It quickly manifested into a roar of praise to the Lord.  Then as Pastor Doolittle continued in his message he spoke of the voice of the Lion of Judah and referred to the King Lion.  He said when the King Lion roars it commands the attention of everyone and everything in the area.  He was referring to the wake up call for the great move of The Holy Spirit that we are moving into in this hour.

It was hard to sleep after that glorious time in His Presence...everyone arose by 6:30 am on Saturday, had another beautiful time of worship, and took communion together. The time was concluded with a "Jericho March" on the grounds, and then a roar of shouting after the 7th circle around the Bonnie Brae house. Pastor Falany concluded the time with prayer...and the bus was once again boarded by the passengers, tired but filled with Him.

Everyone ate breakfast at Clinton’s, a restaurant that was in the same place and visited by the early revivalists in 1906 and after. A perfect conclusion to a perfect time of the Lord’s visitation to His people. Everyone came back with high expectations of what the Lord would do in the days to come, with what had been received. The story is just beginning...the best is yet to come!!

Following are excerpts, alphabetically arranged, from some of the individuals who participated and received from this journey to re-dig the wells of 1906. Judy Durr: "...the words I received were that He has heard my cry and it shall be so. That I am receiving strength to birth triplets. Also, Jer. 29:11 (a recurring scripture over the years), He has given me His heart, (saw gems as the treasures of heaven). Also, I had a vision of a beautiful, large, golden challis. I felt that it was the King’s Challis with a crown on top, like a lid. It was golden and sparkled with jewels of many colors. It was as if Jesus was handing it to us..."

Gay Lott: "...I felt it an honor to be where history was being made. When prophecy was spoken over me by Charles Doolittle and Pastor Grace Falany, the Holy Spirit ran through my body and I felt tremors that lasted for, I don’t know how long. A greater anointing for prophetic intercession was imparted at that time..."

Jeanne Mills: "...Friday morning I had the taste of wine in my mouth. There is no flavor on earth to equal it. I felt the Holy Spirit say, ‘New wine’. When Pastor Fred Berry started to pray for me, he prayed, ‘New wine’, over me. I knew what being drunk in the Spirit was, but this was much higher...I felt really dizzy. When I slept in the Bonnie Brae House, I saw a multitude of feet and it was revealed to me that they were the feet of everyone who had gone to the Bonnie Brae house through the years for healings and Bible studies from the first revival. On Sunday, after we came back, I saw the feet again on the porch of our church..."

Elaine Obernalte: "...I was prophesied over and told that I was a carrier of the flame...the fire of God..."

Marc Pointel: "...The Lord is saying that we have received a golden anointing. I saw a large body of water with golden oil. The glory of the Most High God was shining and His brilliancy was on this golden oil and it was available for us. This body of water was so placid and beautiful. So beautiful that the heart was crying with tears of great joy. His golden anointing was in the Holy of Holies and all who entered into this most sacred sanctuary would receive. Those carrying the golden anointing would leave the Presence of the Lord in their path with every footprint of each step they took..."

Michelle Pointel: "...Since our experience at Azusa Street/Bonnie Brae House, the Lord has greatly increased the frequency of prophetic words which I have spoken ... some for Tonopah!!...and dreams which He gives me. My ability to discern spirits is greater and my spiritual eyes are keener. I received prophetic words saying that I would have increased anointing in prophetic worship; I would win many to Christ in Nevada, and that I am an evangelist. Also, that my husband Marc and I are a prince and princess in God’s kingdom..."

Delane Shelt: ...I was greatly blessed as prophetic words were spoken over me concerning my up-coming trip back to China ...as we dedicate a new ministry complex, a seven-story beautiful church that missionaries and Revival Fires, Intl. and the communist state in China have built to the glory of God. She said that many would be drawn to the light and joy in me and grab my clothing and ask how they could be like me...’how can I be saved’? She prophesied that there would be many salvations and that the 5-fold ministry would be shown in me by the Holy Spirit..."

Susie Silva: "...The Lord is increasing the intercessory gift and taking me a step higher. He is bringing me into awesome things in the days ahead especially in the area of prophetic intercession..."

Karen Stockwell: "...Personally spoken over me was an answer I had been looking for. I know I have been anointed for healing but have not been able to use it fully and have been asking God why. The words spoken were, that I needed healing before I could minister healing. God is so faithful when we ask!..."

Doris Taylor: "...Pastor Grace saw like a laser beam cutting into my ears and causing them to open to hear very sharply. A great burden hit my heart and I cried out for the sounds of heaven in words and music. Then, Charles Doolittle prophesied that I had gone through and that the Lord had cut through the path of my enemies who had kept me from being able to move out. This was followed by a Word through another prophet that I would be going out beyond the church walls, into the streets, rest homes, hospitals, etc, with music, and people would be healed and set free..."

Barbara Thomas; "...I would say that encouragement was the key blessing for me. Wilma Berry said that the things I have done have not gone unnoticed by God. She said I had been faithful on the wall, a faithful servant. She described a cloud of witnesses around me and God’s loving covering of angels around me always, and that I am not alone. Another woman prophesied that I was a blessed woman. Pastor Grace Falany told me that I had a ministry of blending nationalities to receive anointing with power and boldness...that it is larger than what I think, with nations. That it was a thorough blend of ingredients, the way a person stirs to make a cake.  And yet another word, that I was going to get a promotion ..."

1998 & 1999

The years of '98 and '99 have been years of thirst and hunger for Mariposa Revival Center. In 1997 God poured out His Spirit there in a mighty way. In February of that year a "two night" meeting, in the little mountain church, turned into full blown Revival and continued for more than forty more services. It was named "The Feast of Fire Revival" and 19 churches of central California actively participated in it.

Previous to the outbreak of Revival, the MRC Pastors, Henry and Grace Falany, had made pilgrimages to Toronto, Canada ~ Melbourne, Fla. ~ Rodney Howard-Browne meetings, and the Brownsville Revival in Pensacola, Fla. They were hungry for revival and wanted desperately to bring the anointing home to Mariposa. There were also several of the Pastors of other valley churches that had recently visited Pensacola with hungry hearts.

It is believed that God heard some hearts crying out, and He breathed a fresh wind of His Spirit their way. The result was the "Feast of Fire Revival" which began in that little church in that little mountain town.

After the first week at Mariposa Revival Center, under the leadership of the Falanys, the Revival was taken to the San Joaquin Valley. Over the next 3 months it visited ten different cities throughout the valley. Literally thousands of people attended the meetings. The crowds were larger than any of the participating churches could hold so county fairground buildings, and other public buildings, were rented. Souls were won and many lives were touched by the Holy Spirit.
